On September 30, 2023, the Woody Williams Foundation (WWF) will proudly host the first annual Woody Williams Legacy of Service Celebration. This special event will celebrate the life and mission of the late Hershel “Woody” Williams, a Medal of Honor recipient who devoted his life to serving others. Held in conjunction with what would have been his 100th birthday, this event will highlight the work of the organization which he co-founded. The event will also provide an opportunity for supporters to come together for the passing of the Woody Williams Foundation flag, symbolizing our commitment to carry on Woody’s legacy of service.
Help us honor Woody’s legacy and invest in the future of the Gold Star Families we serve.
Join us for this special evening as we celebrate the Legacy of Service.
Even if you are unable to join us at the event, you can still support the next generation of service.
This event will be held at the West Virginia Culture Center & Theater, home of the West Virginia Archives & History Library, and the West Virginia State Museum.
The evening will begin with heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks featuring some of Woody’s favorites in the great hall lobby. Additional cuisine will include a “Taste of West Virginia” prepared by local food artisans. Event guests will be the first to see the new Hershel “Woody” Williams special exhibit on display at the museum. Opening of the exhibit will be followed by a program in the main theater. This portion of the event will feature special musical performances and guest speakers including Medal of Honor recipients Command Master Chief, USN (SEAL) Ret. Britt Slabinski and Specialist 5 James McCloughan, USA. The evening will conclude with birthday cake and coffee in the great hall lobby.
