The Caretaker Society was inspired by our late founder, Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams. Woody often remarked, “This Medal does not belong to me, it belongs to those who did not get to come home. I wear it in their honor. I am merely the caretaker.”
On September 30, 2023, the Foundation hosted the inaugural Woody Williams Legacy of Service Celebration. This distinguished event honored the life and mission of our namesake, Medal of Honor recipient Hershel "Woody" Williams, whose dedicated service benefited Veterans and Gold Star Family Members.
Continuing this tradition, the Woody Williams Foundation will host the 3rd Annual Woody Williams Legacy of Service Celebration on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the historic Louisville Slugger Field, Hall of Fame Pavilion in Louisville, KY. This event will recognize the ongoing mission inspired by Hershel "Woody" Williams and showcase the expanding influence of the Foundation and his enduring legacy.
We are privileged to announce that our Special Guest of Honor will be General David Berger, USMC (Ret), the 38th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. The evening will provide an opportunity for Gold Star Family members, Medal of Honor recipients, and supporters to gather in recognition of those upholding the Foundation's Legacy of Service.
