A new way to honor those Gold Star families who lost loved ones while they were serving our country will be unveiled this Saturday.
The Gulf Coast Gold Star Families Memorial broke ground back in July at Guice Park located south of the new pedestrian overpass on Highway 90. It will be joining the current World Wars monument, Purple Heart Monument, and the U.S.S. Biloxi Memorial.
Keesler Federal Credit Union donated the funds to erect the monument.
At Saturday’s ceremony, they will have Gold Star families present as well as a World War II Medal of Honor recipient who will speak. Biloxi Public Affairs Specialist Cecilia Dobbs Walton said, “It is very important to remember those who served and the family members because they made a big sacrifice, to have a family go over and serve in war and then a larger sacrifice when they lost one of their family members. So, this is a way for everybody to come out and honor them and of course the families can honor their loved ones as well when they visit the site.”
The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument unveiling will take place at Saturday at 1 p.m.
