People across the United States continue to ask 95-year-old Medal of Honor Recipient Woody Williams, what motivates he and his foundation’s efforts. His simple and heartfelt reply, “The Cause is Greater than I…”
Six words that the foundation which bears his name has now adopted as its motto. In a recent speech given by Woody, he remarked about the mission of he and his HWWMOHF Team, “It’s not about me and it is not about our foundation, it is about them.” The "them" Woody refers to are the Gold Star Families and their Loved Ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Freedom serving in the US Military.
After a banner year in 2018, Woody and his Foundation remain focused on their goal to serve Gold Star Families in all 50 states. The Foundation’s key initiative, the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument (GSFMM) project, now has a footprint spanning 42 states with 47 Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments established and an additional 59 Gold Star Families Memorial Monument projects in-progress.
With the growth of the organization’s monument initiative, the HWWMOHF has become increasingly focused on expanding and improving their other programs. These programs include the HWWMOHF's Gold Star Family Outreach initiative as well as their Gold Star Families education and advocacy efforts.
