At Indiana University Southeast, Sgt. Okyere was a math and science tutor as well as a mentor. He was pursuing a career as a pharmacist. His peers adored him, and he was a popular person to befriend. He was a wonderful father and husband who spent a lot of time volunteering at IUSE and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
