Chris was attending Valparaiso University and was a member of ROTC when his National Guard Unit was called up for OEF. Chris was told he did not have to deploy, because of his membership in ROTC, but he replied with "that is not why I enlisted, I need to serve with my unit".
He left American soil on 11/11/11 for Afghanistan. He was only there a few short months when while out on mission they hit an IED. Chris along with 4 Battle Buddies were killed that day.
Chris loved the performing arts and had a beautiful tenor voice. He was studying to become a Music Ed Major so he could spread his love of music. When Chris died his younger brother came up with "For God, For Country, For Music" as what Chris stood for.
Forever 20 and forever in our hearts.
