Jake was not only “in the service” of our great country, he always served others. He many times shared his family’s meals with a service widow neighbor. He fixed 2 flats on a shipmates truck (unbeknownst to that shipmate) during a time his aircraft carrier was in dock. He always asked family members when he visited if anything needed to be fixed, and if so, he fixed it. He was a very humble man and disliked any recognition. He left behind 3 children, aged 13, 12, and 2 1/2 in addition to his wife, parents, stepmother, brother, and stepsisters.
