MAJ David Taylor

Maj. David G. Taylor, was born at Fort Hood during his father's second tour in Vietnam, and later moved with his mother to his grandparent's farm in Apex, NC. Although he spent most of his childhood in Heidelberg, Germany, he always considered Apex his home.

He began a life of service and leadership at an early age. At the age of 13, he was awarded the Eagle Scout, the highest Boy Scout award. He was senior class president at Heidelberg High School, where he graduated in 1987. He went on to Davidson College, in Davidson, NC, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in 1991.

He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry upon graduation and planned to spend his career with the military. He continued a family tradition of soldiering. Both his grandfathers served in World War II, and his father completed two tours in Vietnam, spending his entire career with the Army.

Since his family traveled the globe with the military, Taylor found his grandparents' farm in Wake County an anchor. As a teenager, he spent summers driving tractors around John and Doris Overman's tobacco and dairy farm. That's where he earned enough Boy Scout badges to become an Eagle Scout at age 13.

David was married to the love of his life, Michelle, who also lives a life of service. Their son Jacob was just 4 months old when David passed. Today Jake plays college baseball and dedicates this game to his dad!
