Sharon Estill Taylor, PhD, is a therapist, international speaker, and retired tenured professor of Psychology, Social Work, and Women’s Studies. She comes to this board from the World War II Museum Board of Trustees.

She is the daughter of 1st Lt. Shannon Estill, a WWII fighter pilot shot down and killed in the last weeks of the war. Her search for and recovery of her father’s lost crash site is the subject of a Spiegel TV documentary film, “A Love in the Time of War: The Last Flight of Lt. Estill. The film had it’s U.S. premiere at the World War II Museum in New Orleans. She is the author of Phantom Father: A Daughter’s Quest for Elegy, 3rd Edition.

With a deep interest in grief and loss, she was hired by the Department of Defense as an on-site therapist on an east German WWII airbase. She was responsible for supporting troops going to and returning from Iraq and their families.

Dr. Taylor’s work continues through this appointment. The evolution from a lengthy business career in travel and being part of a Gold Star family, she brings her enthusiasm and pride to this organization.
